December 28, 2020
Well 2020 has been a tough year for us all. In the performing arts we saw all gigs cancelled due to the need to obey social distancing rules. For me this meant most corporate events cancelled. Furthermore I was saddened when the Edinburgh Fringe was cancelled as this is the highlight of my year.
However I, like many of my clients, had to adapt to an online/digital world. And I was fortunate enough to be booked to provide entertainment for clients on digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom. In December I performed for some public shows (general admission by ticket) online and was great to see audiences in Canada, the US and UK join on a zoom call and connect over magic. A truly immersive and interactive experience and I look forward to performing more of these in 2021.
I also spent more time with those looking to improve their magic with 1:1 tuition, either personally when allowed under the rules, or via digital platforms. It is great to see more people take an interest in learning a new skill such as magic and I look forward to more coaching and tuition in 2021.
Of course I look forward to the return of live venues, theatres, festivals and cruise ships and am already confirmed to be in the 2021 Edinburgh Fringe (fingers crossed in happens!) but until then I shall continue to coach and perform magic online.
To everyone that supported me in 2020 thank you so much, and I hope things improve in 2021 for us all.
